Private Coaching for:

  • College Applicants

  • Young professionals

  • Aspiring Artists

Through in-person and online lessons, Corey Agnew has had the pleasure of coaching a great number of successful college applicants and young professionals from all over North America. Several of Corey’s students have booked work on Broadway, for Mirvish, on Broadway Tours, at the Stratford Festival of Canada, on a variety of films and T.V. shows and on stages all across North America.  College applicants have been accepted into the top theatre and musical theatre programs in the United States and Canada such as Carnegie Mellon, Sheridan College and Baldwin Wallace.

College Applicants

For those looking to apply to college, it is recommended that lessons begin at least 4 months before auditions. Many of our most successful college applicants started their training about a year prior to their auditions. While Corey is very happy to help students polish their material with just a few lessons before their auditions, we find that students who train regularly, for longer, develop enormously and this growth is always reflected in their final audition material.

 In-Person Group Classes in Kitchener-Waterloo

Agnew Acting Studio is based in Waterloo and offers a variety of in-person performance and training opportunities for youth of all ages and experience levels.

We strive to help young performers grow both artistically and personally.  We feel that our students’ many successes are due to our approach, where personal growth and exploration is the priority. Acting requires an understanding of what it means to be human, and for this reason we work with our students to ensure that they feel comfortable in who they are as individuals.  We believe that play-based learning, and a sense of community are essential to our students’ development, so we strive to create an environment where students can have fun, and be comfortable taking artistic risks so that they stretch themselves each and every class.

 Classes

  • In this weekly, 2-hour acting class, students are introduced to a variety of acting techniques. Each term we choose a professional play to explore in detail. Students learn how to develop a character, analyze text, rehearse a scene from the ground up and ultimately bring a show to life! Each group experiments with several play-based exercises and acting techniques, which allow the students to develop their own process for tackling challenging dramatic roles. This class is all about camaraderie and community building.
